This site will NOT teach you how to fake a service dog. We expose that garbage.

Brooklyn 99 Litter – Fur Power

Our Puppy Journey: Raising Purpose-Bred German Shepherd Prospects

I'm not a traditional breeder—though I did professionally breed Maine Coons years ago—my background is in training. Severe allergies put a major pause on things, but when it was time to replace my own service dog, I chose to take control.

This litter is the result of a very intentional pairing:

  • A solid DDR female with proven structure, drive, and temperament.
  • An exceptional American working-line male—tall and lanky, bursting with high energy, but blessed with an incredible brain and the most outgoing, people-oriented personality I've encountered.

These aren't AKC show dogs. They're selected purely for traits that matter in real service work: sharp intelligence, biddability, resilience, and that special spark. To give them the best possible start, we're using Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), intensive early socialization, structured training, and rich environmental experiences right from the beginning.

Nature being nature, not every pup will reach the elite level needed for service dog work—and that's part of the honest reality we'll share here. The top prospects will be placed thoughtfully as service dog candidates. The rest? They'll find loving homes with veterans (or stay with us), where their affection and energy can bring genuine comfort and joy to someone who needs it.

These little heroes won't be ready for placement until at least 6 months old. Until then, they'll receive full foundational training, tons of real-world socialization, and ongoing evaluations.

The real goal of this page? Transparency and education.

We're documenting the entire process so you can follow along with our 8-day-old puppies as they grow through their first 6 months. You'll see the daily/weekly milestones, the ENS routines, socialization outings, early training sessions, temperament developments, challenges, wins—everything. It's not always perfect, but it's real, and I hope it helps others understand what goes into creating exceptional working dogs.

Placements (when the time comes) will involve strict interviews, home visits, and ongoing support to ensure the best match.

If you're curious about the journey, have questions about puppy development, ENS, service dog prep, or just want to cheer these pups on—feel free to reach out or follow along on X (@WCoffmanPorter). Updates, photos, videos, and progress reports will be posted regularly!

More puppy adventures coming soon—stay tuned! 🐾

Meet the Squad: Our Brooklyn Nine-Nine Inspired Pups

We're huge fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine in this house—no shame in that! The show's humor, heart, and incredible ensemble cast have been a go-to for years. So when our litter turned out to be a perfectly balanced 3 females and 3 males, it felt like fate handed us the ultimate naming theme.

We name all our animals after TV shows and movies. Why? Honestly, I have no idea anymore. It started as something that seemed cool (or at least funny) years ago, and somehow it turned into a full-blown weird family habit. But this time? It lined up too perfectly to ignore.

So here they are—our tiny 99th Precinct recruits:

Born Monday, March 2, 2026.

  • Rosa Diaz (fierce, no-nonsense vibe already showing)
  • Amy Santiago (organized, eager to please, total overachiever energy)
  • Gina Linetti (confident, sassy, and probably running the show behind the scenes)
  • Jake Peralta (goofy, high-energy, always ready for chaos)
  • Terry Jeffords (strong, protective, and the only black puppy in the litter. He was the runt, but he's growing fast!)
  • Charles Boyle (sweet, enthusiastic, and amazingly chatty)

Don't get me wrong—these aren't the only amazing characters on the show (Holt, Hitchcock, Scully… we love them all!). We were just working with the puppies we had, and these six fit like a glove. Every single person in the 99 is gold, so go easy on us for the picks, okay? 😅

We'll be sharing updates on how each little character develops their own personality as they grow—because if these pups end up half as quirky and lovable as their namesakes, we're in for a treat.
